BadAss WODWOMEN Meet Amy Putman From CrossFit 51

Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, hobbies, interests, etc.). *

I am a busy wife and mom to my son Ben, who is 9. I am a principal at an elementary school. I love being with my family and friends. A house filled with people is my kind of happy place! I love to try new things, cook, travel, read, hike, camp and experience different cultures. I have recently attained my CF L-1 and Precision Nutrition L1 certifications.

Make sure to check her video below.

When did you start doing CrossFit? *

October 23, 2012

How did you hear about CrossFit and what was your first workout? *

I had a few friends who attended the box. They kept after me to just come and try it. I kept turning them down because I wanted to get in better shape before I went. I finally caved. I don’t remember the full wod- but I know there were wall balls.

What were you doing before CrossFit and how were you introduced to CrossFit? *

I was working out at Curves prior to going. I saw the transformations in my friends and that convinced me to try.

How has your approach to CrossFit changed since first starting? *

So much has changed! I used to cherry pick the days that I would go depending on the wod. Now, I make sure to go on the days when there are movements I need to work on. I try to carve time to get in the extra practice. Crossfit is more than just a workout. It’s helping me move better in all areas of my life.

Favorite WOD or movement *

Grace and deadlifts

Least favorite WOD or movement *

Thrusters!

What types of changes have you seen (mentally, physically, and/or lifestyle) since starting CrossFit? *

My life has completely changed. Over the past 5 years I have lost over 100 lbs. my body has completely changed. Mentally, I have become confident in who I am and what I want be. I have also decided to change careers and coach for both Crossfit and nutrition.

What helps you get the most out of your CrossFit Workouts? What motivates/inspires you?

The people around me. I’m surrounded by amazing people who are doing what is right for their bodies. We push and celebrate each other

What would you say to someone starting CrossFit for the first time? *

Drop your ego at the door. No one is watching you. You are competing against yourself so do your best!
